A full-length digital scan of the Honshin Kyōchi-ryū Gokui Takagami (本心鏡智流極位高上) makimono. An extremely rare work, this unusual makimono was brushed during the Edo era (1603 – 1867) of Japanese history. It displays a partial pictorial catalogue of the various methods of the ‘kagi-yari (hooked-spear), utilized in the centuries old ‘Honshin Kyōchi’ style of Japanese combat.
